Dana Francey
My name is Dana Francey and I am running for the Glenburn School Board. I grew up in Bangor and earned a nursing degree from the University of Maine in Orono. Soon after graduating I was married and settled into Glenburn. The great school system and proximity to the city with quick access to snowmobile trails and Pushaw lake drew me in. I work as an information system nurse now and have interests in hiking, biking, kayaking, back country camping, and almost anything tech related. I have two children, both who are currently attending Glenburn Elementary School.
I have considered running for the school board for a few years after going through the budget each year, spending time at parent and school board meetings, and running a Glenburn Parent group on Facebook. With both of my kids attending Glenburn Elementary, this is a perfect time to get involved.
What are my goals?
My overall goal is to represent the communities interests and be your voice for what the vision of success looks like. My four big focus areas are:

Watch Spending
The annual Glenburn school budget makes up more than 68% of your property tax bill. I want to ensure that money for the school system is focused on improving education.
As an outsider looking through the itemized school budget each year, teachers are clearly pinching pennies in their classrooms while other areas have grown in spending. I believe things can be optimized with a careful eye on spending priorities.

Support Families
America is facing a mental health crisis. Even before the disruptions of COVID, we saw a rise in suicidal ideation, depression, and anxiety among our youth. To address this locally, we need clear, consistent policies and rigorous enforcement regarding bullying. By creating a culture of accountability, we can prevent the isolation that leads to crisis and ensure that every student feels safe, seen, and supported in our schools.

Keep Politics Out
A concerning trend is happening across schools in America where politics and political propaganda are not just encouraged but expected.
I will work to keep politics out of the classroom and out of the budget so students can focus on what matters - preparing for their careers.

Prepare for the Future
Our youth must be prepared for life beyond their time in Glenburn schools. Whether their next step is a four-year university, a technical trade school, or entering the workforce, they deserve an education that prioritizes real-world readiness. I will work to ensure our curriculum evolves to meet these modern goals and advocate for the competitive support needed to attract and retain the high-quality teachers who make that success possible.
Work With Me
I need your help to get elected and will work to keep our education standards high while being efficient in our financial needs. Please show your support by voting for me!
